Tide & Tail Dog Walking Co. ("Tide & Tail", "I", "me") is a dog walking business in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This policy explains what personal information this website collects, how I use it, and the choices you have.

Information I collect

I only collect personal information you choose to give me, through:

• The contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), neighbourhood, the service you're interested in, and what you tell me about your dog.
• The Tide & Tail Assistant (website chat): the messages you type into the chat and, if you use its "Leave your details" form, the same details as the contact form plus a copy of your chat so far.
• Email: anything you send to [email protected].

The website also collects some information automatically. See "Cookies and analytics" below.

How I use it

• To reply to your message, set up a time to meet, and arrange walks.
• To provide the service, including sending you photo updates from visits.
• To understand how people use this website and whether my online ads lead to enquiries.

I don't sell or rent your information, and I don't use it to send you marketing you didn't ask for. I won't post photos of your dog publicly without your permission.

Service providers

A few companies help run this website. They handle your information only to provide their service:

• Formspree receives contact and chat form submissions and emails them to me.
• Cloudflare hosts this website, forwards email sent to [email protected], and runs the AI model that writes the chat assistant's replies. Chat conversations are not saved by this website.
• Google provides Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement, and serves the fonts used on this site.

Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to collect information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived at the site, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (city level). Google Analytics does not log or store your IP address. I use this to see which pages are useful and whether my Google ads lead to enquiries. When you send a message, a "lead" event is recorded with the source (form or chat) and service you chose, but not your name or contact details.

To opt out, you can block cookies in your browser settings or install Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same either way. Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Hosting providers may also log standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) for security and performance.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiries for as long as needed to reply and, if you become a client, for as long as I'm walking your dog and a reasonable time after for my records. You can ask me to delete your information at any time, unless I'm required to keep it by law.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information I have about you, correct it, or withdraw your consent to my using it. Email [email protected] and I'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with how I handle your information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

This website is meant for adults arranging care for their dogs. I don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If I change this policy, I'll update it on this page and change the effective date above.
